You have probably heard all about running a blog. A blog, short for “web log”, is a serialized webpage on which the author puts up frequent posts on their daily life or other interesting topic. It is more personal than most webpages and is considered part of the growing emergence of social media. The tips below will be helpful to you if you are looking to start up a blog or improve an existing blog you have already created.
Search Engines
Remember not to overuse keywords, plug-in, images and ads. These behaviors will ensure the search engines flag your site as breaking the rules, limiting your readership. Remember to write for humans, not for search engines. That means writing in a smooth, natural way.
To garner more interest in your blog, a great idea is to comment on other blogs. If you’re using Google Reader, you can have a separate folder to use for keeping track of the blogs that you should be following. Visit those blogs daily and add your two cents, often.
Make sure your blog is updated often. To encourage readers to return and draw in new readers, you must post fresh content on a regular basis. If your blog hasn’t been updated in a long time, visitors will stop checking back. At a minimum, you should make at least one post per day.
Keep in mind there is a world outside of blogging. Everyone needs a break at times. If you overdo it, you may actually burn out from the demands of your blog. Make time for walks, visiting friends, or just a five minute break. Having some time outside of running a blog will prevent burnout and allow you to return from your break ready to write great content.
A good blog is something that immediately captures the reader’s attention. You can increase traffic and make your blogs more interesting to readers if you use the tips you just read. Some bloggers are in it simply to enjoy themselves, while others are out for professional or financial rewards. Regardless of what the ultimate goal of your blogging is, make sure to have fun.
